I intend taking my son to Japan this year for a 3 week holiday (part organised, part not).

What we want to do it take in some Japanese car culture - street cruisers, street racing, drifting events etc. etc.

Probably aiming at October time.

Anyone got any suggestions?

If you put it off until Jan 06 then you can go to the AutoSalon show...

I went to Japan at the beginning of the year and didnt see much in the way of modded GT cars. Mobile Phones...lots.

IIRC Mitsubishi is based in Shizuoka City - not far from my place of worship (the Tamiya Factory). Suzuki is near there as well.

Try asking on www.gaijinpot.com (gaijin means foreigner), they have a forum so may get some responses there. Or try: http://forum.japantoday.com/

A lot of people, espcially the late teens/early 20's dont have cars as traffic is a nightmare and their public transport is fantastic.

Get a Japan Rail Pass before you go, gets you on most Shinkansens (apart from the Nozami - I paid extra for that and its worth it) and some buses.

Mail me offline if you want hotel/transport info.
