How easy and costly is it to get some serious power out of these? Talking in the 300 horsepower type area!

I wouldnt go for power first, as it handles like shite.

Hence the reason I have Apexi coilovers on route from Japan, a Nismo LSD being fitted in a couple of weeks and a few other bits going on first before I even think about the power.

300 shouldnt be too much work though really, as always SXOC is the place to be looking.

According to Norris Designs it will cost £2800 inc VAT, and includes New Style Mongoose Exhaust, K&N Air Induction Kit, ND Boost Upgrade Kit,
HKS Front Mounted Intercooler, ND Gp A Fuel Pump, SARD Adj Fuel Regulator, Apexi Power FC ECU.

They do various stages of tuning (up too 650BHP!!!, if you've got £21k to spend). Its a good site, all listed under the ND conversions section.

IIRC the 290bhp conversion is about £2.5K. Insurance on a 200sx is frankly ridiculous. I know, I've checked.

Edit: Ignore my previous statement. The AA have just quoted me £1,151 fully comprehensive on a 2001 unmodified 200SX (age 20, 3 years NCB). Hmmm, that's got me thinking again now. I wrote off the idea of a 200SX becuase the insurance was ridiculous

Just stay out of it DJ27, I've just got my budget sorted out and there aren't enough to go round. Insurance is still mighty expensive you know, and what about if the turbo goes wrong? Hmm? And what might the residual be in a year or two? Won't your mates laugh when they see the cheapy macro interior and lego-land rear end? Plus it handles like a bag of shit and you'll probably crash it the first time it rains...best put it off for a bit longer eh!?

Yeah I've thought of all that too. Seriously though, I'm not in a position to buy until at least the end of the year, whatever I end up getting. By which time I'll be 21 with (hopefully) 4 years NCB, so insurance hopefully won't be a problem. I'd prefer something smaller and lighter, but jap turbo nutterdom could yet win me over

I buy Japanese Performance most months anyway. I'm a huge fan of most Jap stuff. I know some of it's not brilliantly styled, but it's well engineered and ludicrously tuneable in most cases.

300bhp is easy, great cars. Due to the fact that a couple of my friends have 200sx's i run them rather alot.
