Good news and bad news
Discussion
So, the good news is I'm driving to work tomorrow in a hulking great yank V8 barge thing. I shall be mostly blipping the throttle with the windows down.
The bad news is that I'm in the pony car because my beloved is still being tended to. I'd like to tell you exactly what's wrong with it, but when I spoke to my mechanic I didn't understand all the words. I got "irritating bloody minded pain in the arse pile of Japanese shit" I believe........
....I think the transmission and ABS are being a little bit challanging somehow.

Much sympathy my friend,-I'll leave moaning about my technical troubles for a later date then.
On the up side the yank tank sounds fuh-hun ,what is it? & what can you make it do-without killing yourself on the highway, that is!
Not a problem for me. It's the poor bastard trying to re-fit the transmission you should feel sorry for.
This is a proper pony car. 1998 Mustang GT with the 4.6 litre V8.
Great engine. Terrible car. It's no quicker in a straight line than the Four, it's made out of bits of old tractors to the cheapest price possible (mmmm, acres of shiny plastic) and it wouldn't know what a corner was until it understeered off one.
And with all that, it's strangely very amusing. I'm warming to it I think.
Problem refitting the transmission? Cant see why.
Ive done 3 of em in the garage on the floor...
Agreed they cant be a ikkle bit frustrating but theyre not that hard to re assemble.
Your mechanic needs two dowels around 9 inches long to be screwed into the top two bellhousing locations on the engine, then slide the gearbox down them. It keeps the box in its correct position with a bit of leeway for the transfer-case to slide past the casting protrusions on the engine.
Alternatively i removed an offending protrusion (casting flash) off the transfer-casing to facilitate a nice easy fitment.
hth.

It also reminded me of an outing I had recently in a TVR. V8's are cool.
Whether they're as cool as a 4cyl running huge amounts of boost, redlining at 8k+ rpm is a discussion for another time (and possibly another forum, TVR Forum...)
What was the topic?
Ah yes,
GT4 business. Repairs etc. I have been reliably informed today that a 3S-GTE specialist is relocating to 5 miles from my work, so engine-wise, I should be sorted.
As for all things 4WD, I will gladly send business your way (so long as your not 000's of miles away)
Keep me posted (assuming you were being serious that is )

There's more to a fast car than dyno output.
Huzzah! I do get tired of the forever, 'which car is 0.01 sec quicker...'debates.Seductive mistress that she is.Iknow that it's an important factor, esp if one is striving for expensive/elusive power gains, but in the real world is rarely a consideration.
In recent years the feeling(for me anyway)on British roads is ,I'd trade handling for power any day.-Any one wanna swap a heavy dame skyline for an Exige/Elise

More Huzzahs & all round!
Always thought the Ideal 'Liner would be something like; add at least another litre(3.5-4000cc) of the V8 persuasion & a dirty great supercharger, for torque right thru the range.ah! what a GT that would be
dream on tuttle.

You could use the Toyota/Lexus 4.0 V8.
I have seen an F40 "silohuette" (not sure on spelling, but basically a Ferrari F40 replica) with above mentioned engine with twin turbo's. Lots of fun.
Probably could be convinced into a 'Liner...
Won't go in the Four.
I have seen a ST185 (same as the one in the pics) with a twin turbo LS1 lump and RWD.
That moved a bit.
