Confusion about Subaru lineup - fast estates
Discussion
Does anyone know of a site which offers a breakdown of the Impreza/Legacy/Forester lineup over the last 15 years? I've never been so confused when researching just the limited range offered by one manufacturer
I fancy a big fast Subaru, only requirements are that it has a manual gearbox & is an estate.
I initially started looking at the Forester STi but they are a bit out of budget really (max £6k),so now I'm thinking a Legacy or Impreza would be a better buy.
Was the Legacy ever sold in turbo form with a manual box?
Impreza wise, was an STI estate ever offered post 2005?

A very rough run-down of turbo Legacy wagons...
1st gen (1989-93) 2.0 single turbo, 200-220bhp badged GT or RS.
2nd gen (1993-98) 2.0 sequential twin turbo, 260bhp auto (or manual GT) 280bhp manual GTB.
3rd gen (1998-03) 2.0 sequential twin turbo, 260bhp auto (or manual GT) 280bhp manual GTB.
4th gen (2003-09) 2.0 or 2.5 single turbo, 250-280bhp depending on spec and market. 280bhp is manual JDM 2.0 GTB.
Newer than that I'm not really up with.
GTB (or GT-B, or GT Spec-B) often have higher spec interiors than regular GT as well as more power and stiffer Bilstein suspension. There was also the 'Blitzen' special edition with mostly cosmetic differences, but I think they gained a front LSD as well.
Hope that helps.
As has been said the last proper Impreza STi wagon was the bugeye.

I'm slightly biased but can highly recommend the FXT, especially in 2.5ltr form. A good low mileage well cared for FXT would also be in your budget. For further splendid reading look here...

- not too much difference between USDM and EDM cars, except our EDM cars have a few extras...
