Sorry for the boring question - Toyota Avensis advice

Does anyone have any info on the differences between the 1.8vvti and the 2.0vvti Avensis (03-08).

Is one better than the other? I have searched google but not had much joy.

This follows on from my 'what car' thread where I am looking for a sensible car for my wife (as well as a more fun one for me!) The Avensis seems a good option for my missus.
