Mazda 2 recommendation

Hi there,

Looking for a 3-year-old car to replace my 16-year-old Peugeot. A Mazda 2 automatic and a Hyundi 120 have been suggested. Ideally I want a car that is economic, safe and very reliable. I do only short drives and average no more than 500 miles a year. Also want an automatic with a proper gearbox and an engine more powerful than a 1.2. HVe been told that Mazda's and Hyundi's are very reliable, but that they can suffer from poor paint quality.

I'd say the apint has been one of the best things about the car.

Mrs VM has a 57 plate Mazda 2 and we're very happy with it. It is a 1.3 manual though.

Acceleration is rather obviously not the quickest, but once its up to motorwar speeds it is quiet and comfortable and barrels along with everything else very happily.

Not had a problem with it, and the paint has been fine.
