Standard apart from being lowered a bit. Roughly 50k miles from memory... It's a big pic!

How high would you go, price wise?

where's the drool smiley

this one will do:

still can't decide whether it's a good idea though..

they're so cheap to buy at the moment.. but I'm just scared of running one!

edited to ad: wouldn't go to £8k at that mileage.. dangerously close to rebuild-time.. I'd want a warranty on it for that money. have a look at Jimmy's.. they have a couple at £9.5k with rebuilt engines.. and they have a good rep on fduk.

bugger.. I want one again now. Had just convinced myself out of it..

Dunno- 8-9k??? Not a clue.

IanT's was fecking gorgeous...

The guy says £7200, maybe slightly less.

Looks like it could be a good deal then, unless there is something massively wrong hence the price...

Iains has a different front bumper, doesn't it? Is it the KF one?

It's only a measley couple of grand every now and then

Most people would spend that on silly things like massive carbon fibre spoilers and silly vented hoods.

Haha!

Well, a clutch is kind of neccesary...

The wheels were too, albeit perhaps not in 17s!

I recognise that car!

The owner used to have a really nice Prelude as well and resides on Honda-R.

If he has looked after that RX7 as much as he looked after his Prelude then it should be in really good nick.

And no, i'm not on commission

Apparently it hasn't even been out this winter!

A couple of nice big garages in the pics too, so that's comforting.

Picture the scene:

Gaz n' Dan both go to a japshop, both lay 3k on the counter. One of them is getting his car back to how it should be, the other is getting another 150bhp...

Who got the better deal there???

Ahhhhhhh yes, but one of them has a completely engine and is nothing like anything else, so I'm told!

Hey guys, thanks for the nice comments on my FD. The ego always appreciates it

Prices have seriously died over the last 12 months. Partly due to the number imported - they were the hot import ticket and all the importers (reputable and clueless alike) were pouring them into the country - and partly due to the cost of insuring them (as PulsatingLee can confirm).

Bargains are out there to be had as are some that will require £s spending to get them running right. There seem to be a lot of cars out there for sale in the 8-9k market with rebuilt motors. For one without a rebuild but not actually ill 6-8k depending. You can pick up big single turbo cars in the 8-10k range with serious hp.

If you're going to buy one take all the usual precautions and then some. Have one of the rotary specialists give the car the once-over. WGT in Cheshire (my favourite place for bankrupting myself) charge a vrey reasonable £70 including a compression test.

Don't rush. These are beautiful cars and not all that pricey but use your head and don't get carried away!

Ask questions on MRC plus there are always a few cars on there for sale...

Only other thing to add about buying an FD is... do it, do it, do it...

Agreed! They are incredibly rare (I've yet to pass another one in mine!), they go as good as they look, and can be suprisingly inexpensive as long as you use your head. Mine's my daily hack and doesn't miss a beat.

8k will get one with a rebuild. A friend's just bought a well cared for car that actually doesn't have a rebuilt engine. It has a new engin. He paid 7.5k! Needs a few hundred spending on the breaks and that's it.

The rear lights pictured are the late spec lights with round lighty-uppy parts (I think 99 onwards) and they look alot nicer (imho) than the original square lights.

Now THAT is what I want to hear!!

although I don't think either the missus or my bank statements feel the same way...

your car just looks

black is THE colour I think..

where did you get yours from? you only bought it recently if I remember.. (and also how much if you don't mind)

and iain, mind if I ask where this friend found this car with a new engine?
