The flight to Tokyo was over 10 hours excitement edged with what am I going to find at the auction in a week dedicated to purchasing 2 cars one of which was to e my personal and one for a friend who suggested a people carrier for his business needs.
The flight was £200 as a BA courier and the hotel costs shared between the two parties I remember the yen was I think around 210 to the pound happy days ????

Our host a member of showa trade jp picked and delivered to my hotel for the week a very small room but hey heads down you will be picked up on Monday to go to first auction.

on arrival at auction the cars all had their keys in and presented with paper document outlining condition dents dings mileage etc nice touch a car showing whats wrong rather than looking and finding out for yourself very honourable I thought.

several days of looking for cars until I found the perfect car for moi a silver 18 month old 8000km grade 4 .5 AA MAZDA RX7 which I bid circ a £8000 and shipped home for £9.500 a real bargain, the whole process as a bit of fun as a petrol head seeing how the jp market operated

Over the years I have been able to own several sports cars gtr 35 celica gt4 rx7 350z then from Germany 330 ci m3 e46 smg Porsche 996 tt gt3 club sport 997 gt3 boxster s and non s 996 c2 so quite A range from £9,000 to £93,000 all have their good points but which has the vote.

gt3 club sport 996 has to be the overall winner a gokart with a body attached.

but im still drawn to the silver mazda rx7 a beautiful car plenty of power lightweight and great fun.

How ever japan v GERMANY I still cant decide.

I wonder if the next 18 years of cars will be as much fun as the last crop.
