Have just agreed to purchase a Celica GT. It's done 77k - can anyone tell me when the belts need changing or when they should have been changed and how much they are likely to cost if they need doing?

Any thing else to check with the Celica when buying? Slightly late I know but then it was an impulse buy and I've always been fond of those lines.

Many thanks in advance

Agreed. It was the same with my MR2 as well.

When I bought my GT4 a couple of months ago, this is the advice everyone here gave me. You could probably relate most of it to the GT.
Hope this helps.
And welcome to the Celica Club.

And check ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING works.
I know it sounds stupidly obvious, but I didn't check the everyday things, and it drives me mad, everyday!!

If its got a double DIN headunit, check both tape & cd work.
All electric windows, mirrors, sunroof.
The gas struts that are supposed ()to hold the boot up.
The electric ariel.
The switch that changes the circulation of the air.
The AC.
Check that all of the cabin fan speeds work.
I think that is it, but like I said, check everything

Sorry,
Another point.
The fuel gauge.

It cost me £180 to get mine fixed.

I hope all my whinging hasn't put you off getting yours.

To be honest, there's not a lot that goes wrong with the GT.

I assume it's a UK car?

'Leccy ariels fail, headlamp seals tend to not, well seal.

That's really about it. Engine is strong, suspension (if it's not superstruts) is fine.

Check everything works.

Belts at 60K or 5 years I think.
