Hopefully this is in the right section.
I'm looking at a 2010 mazda 6 2.2 sport and was hoping you could advise me as to what to look out for. It's a one owner, low miles, sub 30k from memory.
It's not exactly local so looking some help before I make any kind of journey to see it.
Cheers

Contact your local Mazda dealer with the reg No, they should be able to give a print out of the service history,or at least tell you over the phone, 2.2 engine is a lot more reliable that the 2.0 . Nowhere near as many dpf problems, I had to look at loads before I found mine, ( not a sport though) paint is easily scratched,so may have quite a lot of stone chips, although that mileage might be not a problem, see if you can see any receipts for regular oil changes, that the most important thing, Find a good indie for servicing, typed on my iPad, sorry for any spelling,Grammar errors.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure how local my local mazda dealer is but I'll see what I can find.
I currently have a 2.4 5 cylinder diesel volvo and I'm looking for something that'll have similar power but better tax and mpg.
Do you know anything about the timing chains, I've heard there was a recall?

It seems the original timing chain was made of chocolate, When it stretches it throws up a DPF light, Most were done on a recall when be serviced, hence the need to check sevice history. I assume you know it's all on computer and there's no service book you can be bought of e-bay fully stamped up!!!!
My Mazda dealer, I went in and asked them how much to check a cars service history,(I knew it was free). They checked for me, a couple of days later took them in some mince pies as it was near xmas, When I phoned up there was no problem, phoned them about 6 times I think.
A good indie with the right computer gear can save you a fortune, might be worth sounding one out now before you buy,
This was my first Mazda, had it 2 1/2 years now. love it, Only a couple of tyres. oil and filter changes every MOT irrespective of mileage.
Real world 45mpg running about and 50+mpg on a run.
Good luck.
Andy.
