I'm looking for some advice. I have been thinking about upgrading the ECU in my Skyline and remapping for extra power but I'm new to the modding game and would like to hear from some others who have been there before. I don't want to make any internal changes to the engine, just free up some of the potential of the RB26.

Which is a good chip to use? (And where to source from)
Is it essential to upgrade the brakes, or are the standard brakes OK for 400bhp-ish? Are there easy brake upgrades that can be done without having to buy new calipers?
Anything else I should be thinking of?

I will likely get the work done in Plymouth by Alan Jeffery at EngineTuner, but I'd like to gen up first.

Cheers in advance...

If Alan is going to map it you be best off taking his advice as to which ecu you would be best fitting

The Link G4 is an ideal upgrade for the skyline, plenty of mates have run this in their GTST's when tuning them. Or the APEXI POWER FC if you can get one. Should see an easy 400bhp at 1bar of boost from yours. If steel internals on your turbos maybe 1.2bar of boost can be mapped in. How olds the fuel pump as this might want refresh too if demanding more power.

As for brakes you have brembo items as stock so maybe just a fast road pad upgrade. I use the EBC yellowstuff all round on my GTST@420bhp fast road spec. Only difference is i've gone up to a 330mm disc upfront over the standard 296mm disc.

OK thanks, I'm hoping to talk to him soon about the options and costs.

Cheers for the response, I'll look at upgrading the pads, do they squeal though? My old 350z had some track pads on when I bought it and it squealed horribly. A nightmare on a busy commute!

It's perhaps not the best car for a 50 mile each way commute but some upgrades might help!

I had the full 33 GTR set up on my GTST , with DS2500 pads all round , didnt squeal at all but you might find they are still struggling when pressing on due to the GTR's extra weight
