An import, I might add:

£1400.

Similar figure for an RX7 (Wahey!!! Well, it is alot but it's do-able).

Skyline GTS...

Over 3k!!!

WHY? Is it just because it's a Skyline?

Yeah - It's not possible to get anything other than FC, apparently.

All premiums are with a £250 excess however!

I got quoted £900ish when I looked at getting an MR2 Turbo, thats with only 1 yr NCB.
It was assuming its standard though.

I'm 21.

Mwahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

(Quote was with alloy wheels and a new exhaust system).

I'm more optimistic about my chances of finding a car I like now.

I'm paying 1400 on my FD, all mods declared with 5 years NCB!!! So it's not a bad quote really for a standard FD.

Is this the one on Sunday?

I'll do my best providing the MR2 gets through its MOT the day before!

Dan, I don't mean to sound like a condesending old fogey, but don't you think a Supra TT is a bit much at 21? I personaly think you'd be better off with a stepping stone between your car and the Big Supe- there is a gorgeous SZ Areotop in Southampton for £7.5k- black with a TRD rear wing. Or go for a 2.0 turbo???

You have no idea how fogey-like you sound!

But, my main reason for getting the G Limited instead of the tubby is that I was sh*t scared that I couldn't handle a MRT when the boost kicked in!

Having gotten completely used to the G Limited, and having drievn a few MR2Ts as well, I want to move on, but not really to another MR2 - I know the tubby would be far more exciting but it's a case of 'been there, done that'.

With the odd moment of near-empty motorway lunacy aside, I have grown to be quite sensible and since I started reading PH over a year ago my driving and observational skills have improved considerably.

I'm confident that, whilst I would need to exercise considerable caution initially, I could handle a TT Supra. I also have some RWD tuition coming up. I couldn't go for an N/A model because:

a) I'd only want to change it after a year and that is a very unsound thing to do financially. (Interesting to note that nobody in my family has ever spent more than 8k on a car before)!
b) It's probably not much quicker than the G Limited and I'd really feel like I was having to lug it around despite the extra torque.
c) It's not a 'proper' Supra.

The SZ would crucify a G-Limited MR2.

Put it this way Dan, I've been driving MRT's for 2.5 years- today, the Supe caught me out twice- both times the TCS was on. Something to think about.

You're just a shit driver!

Only joking - What happened? And do you have any figures for the SZ? I can't find any.

Nahhhhh I think stories of lag and sudden rear-end breakaway were being somewhat exagerrated by MRT owners at that time - Trying to make their cars sound more gung-ho than they really were!

I pay £1500 on my S2000, 28yrs old, off-street parking, full no claims, no mods, no points and one small claim a few years ago. When I was shopping for quotes one broker was amazed that I could get a quote that low Postcode is the biggest killer for me, SE stands for Shaft 'Em.

Not as bad as NW... I actually got a refund (70 quid!) when I moved to SE4!
