R35 GTR buying advice.
Discussion
Hi guys.
Ive been bouncing around a few of the PH sections asking for buying advice on certain cars.
Ive recently had a purchase fall through for an Aston Martin Vantage buut now my mind i swaying to a GTR.
Is there anything i should know about buying one? What should i expect the service history to look like? I'm probably looking at a 2009 car.
Cheers.

All I have to say is I'm jealous. Good luck with the purchase. Ive been bouncing around a few of the PH sections asking for buying advice on certain cars.

Great choice of car, had my R35 for four years currently running Stage 4 which is 630bhp and 620 ftlb.. You should be able to find something decent for about £36K. A few things you need to check are firstly front discs, original OEM are cross drilled and they crack, most owners replace them with either AP or Alcon. The original runflat Dunlops are quite dangerous in damp and cold conditions, a more suitable tyre is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Check the steering lock recall has been done, if this fails it means you can't start the car. Headlights are prone to getting condensation in them, I would guess this is due to power washes being used on the car, never had a problem with mine. Dashboard cluster lights fail but there are independents that can replace the LEDs. Check the Multi function display carefully, these failed regularly on the early cars and Nissan gave an extended warranty to five years but most of the early cars are now outside this, they can be repaired however by sending the unit back to Clarion. Bell housings rattle due to the bearings wearing the aluminium casing, Litchfields do a re engineered fix which is a fresh bell housing including fitting for about £700. The early horror stories re gearboxes are now well sorted by the independants, it is important the early boxes have regular oil changes and have the solenoid clips and uprated magnet kits fitted. Think this covers most of the things, it is not worth paying the extra money for the Black edition over the Premium,it is only an interior trim difference.
