Suzuki ignis sport rev limiter hit
Discussion
Hi
If any anyone one could help it would be great, but, overtaking a car today and briefly hit the rev limiter, slightly worried about engine damage, there are no warning lights or horrible sounds and I have good oil (Petronas). Still concerned about the little thing any advice is greatly received.
Also have I hit the electronic limiter or mechanical?
Thanks

If you were accelerating you have nothing to worry about. Your engine will run at the limiter for 24 hours with no problems.
The only way to damage your engine by over revving is by mechanically over revving it by (for example) changing from 4th to 1st by mistake instead of 4th to 3rd. The momentum of the car will spin the engine too fast and damage it. Google "money shift".
