Subaru questions
Discussion
Evening, might go and look at some Subaru wagons tomorrow, specifically Legacys and Foresters.
There's a fairly local garage which specialise in various Japanese imports and to be honest I'm a bit confused as to what the engine specs are on some of the models, especially with quite a few of them being imports.
Can any of you lovely people give me some advice on the specs?
Here's the dealer: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/dealer/7825...
One of the Foresters:

And one of the Legacys:

I know that most have belts apart from the 3.0 models which are chain driven I believe?
Honestly any advice or pointers would be appreciated, thanks.

Definitely worth doing some research, so you know what you're looking at.The Legacy GT has the 2.0 litre version of the Subaru boxer engine, with a twinscroll turbo (this is a single turbo with dual inlets - NOT the same as the twin turbo setup fitted to earlier Leggys).
You probably need to decide whether you want a Forester or a Legacy, as they're obviously a little different to drive and in terms of ground clearance if that's a factor. Both good, well-built cars that seem to be well-liked by their owners!
If you like a sportier ride, then it's worth looking for a GT-B over a GT (the dealer you linked has a GT-B saloon) as these have the same Bilstein sport suspension as the UK spec.B.
There's a lot of info on uklegacy.com (covers both Legacy and Forester, small but friendly community of enthusiasts) and on legacygt.com (US-focus but lots of good info), and there's a few Legacy-related discussions in the Subaru section of PH.
Thanks, yeah I've seen the gtb on there. Shame as I need an estate really, and fairly soon.
The legacy range look to have far nicer interiors and where it isn't going to be an outright sports car that is definitely a factor for me. The longer wheelbase is appealing, but I do like the impreza-esque feel to the forester
I'm feeling that a legacy GT possibly with a basic remap might do for my needs...
