Just cleaned the MR2...

I am in love once again!

Can't remember off the top of my head how much Fensport charge for the conversion but I've heard that, whilst the engine goes in with few problems, the wiring can be problematic.

Anybody have any idea how reliable these swaps are? It could save me some cash if I decide I want an MR2T... Of course I would have to sort the suspension also which might bring costs back up again.

This question comes up from time to time on IMOC, generally considered a better option to just go buy a turbo than swap the engines, but I guess it depends on how much you like your current car.

Really?

It's better to turbo a high compression N/A engine than just swap in a proven engine that fits perfectly and is designed to be blown in the first place.

I know of nobody who's turbocharged a 3S-GE in a Celica. I know of one supercharged lump (a 3S-GZE I suppose)......

If I'm honest I'd prefer a black MR2T with a hard top as opposed to a T-Bar, but chances of that happening are slim! Importing one costs too much.

Very nice looking example Danboy,I can understand why you'd want to keep it.Juggling the financial aspect of modifiying the P&J is a big dialema(sp?) for me too.

Its just purely cost, as already mentioned, the amount of effort to swap out the engine, put in the 3SGTE and associated plumbing and then explaing to the insurance company about all your mod's ....all things considered buying a turbo car from the off is just loads easier and there are quite a few around, so there is plenty of choice.

All just my opinion of course

Indeed. Unless you've spent loads on a body kit or something, just sell the one you have and buy the turbo.
