Hi all

My daily driver 2008 plated Honda Accord has a nice pair of lovely electric heated leather seats up front. Just the job in the mornings as the weather turns colder.

The problem is, on days where I work from home, I can see what's going to happen: Mrs Eltax takes a look at the keys to her qashqai, remembers how much she regrets not listening to me about getting a car with heated leather and will lift the keys to my accord.

This, in itself is no biggie. Except she is a short arse and as such she adjusts EVERYTHING in the seats! Base, back, lumbar, tilt the lot. hehe

This pisses me off royally as it takes me an age to get it just right again.

As far as I can see, memory seats weren't an option when the car was built, so that leaves me with aftermarket solutions.

Anyone ever done it, or had it done and can comment on relative difficulty? Any decent aftermarket kits out there? Drivers seat would be plenty enough.

Cheers

Might be easier to retrofit heated seats to the cashcow.

But then how would I tell her 'I told you so' with a smug grin on my face in those lovely crisp winter morning? biggrin

I think this post should be in the first world problems thread!

If memory seats were not an option it's never going to be a simple job
It's the sort of thing you might find some beardy who sleeps on a sofa at a hackspace most nights is able to achieve, but it would be a lot of work, he'd have to really love his car.

My 2009 Accord has heated and memory seats....though I agree with others....hide your keys and spend some dosh on getting the Nissan's seats heated. I'll save you in scratches and dings on the Accord... :-)

Thanks for the replies all. You can always rely on PH's to not answer the question and make 5 completely alternative points! smile

I actually don't want to stop her using the car, there are plenty of 'pub times' when I would regret playing games with the seat or stopping her using the car. wink

Looks like retrofit is not the answer though. Guess I will just have to put up with it.

Anything is possible with enough time and money. Does your car have the memory buttons in situ?

Maybe call a Honda specialist and ask the question. You'll either be pleasantly surprised or you'll buy your missus a winter driving coat.

Pull the fuse for the electric seats out and act dull and Honda want £500 to fix it and you don't want to spend that kind of money on it when she has her own car lol

I'm liking this idea.

Simple and reversible.

Have you asked your local Honda dealer or Honda UK? Surely they're best placed to answer your question.

Did you ever sort memory seats, I have the same issue with my Tuscan but the Santa Fe have memory seats and I might look in to it as the motors should be the same.
