My rx8 is leaking oil from under its front passenger side in the engine bay near the wheel. I think it might be the oil lines? How much is this likely to cost and should I drive it or get it recovered to the garage to get it fixed?

I wouldn't drive it if its leaking oil.

Sounds like one of the oil cooler hoses, apparently quite common.

Not sure on costs, might be worth looking for an RX8 specialist where you live.

hope that helps.

I vaguely remember that there was a service bulletin relating to oil cooler pipes. Might be worth checking that it isn't due one if it's been out of the dealer network a long time. You don't want one to go while you are driving.

It's the oil pipes, check out www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk for options.

Thanks

It will be the join where the Oil Cooler meets the pipe going to the block.

You can either replace the whole lot with braided lines, Racing Beat does a kit that cheaper than Mazda's parts but still the best part of £300.

Or I have seen some people cut the rusted section out and fit threaded brass tubing in its place, the sort of stuff you get on plumbing systems.
