Mazda 6 DPF problem
Discussion
Hello All,
This is my first post in the forum and I am confident that the above topic has been discussed more than often
I have a 06 plate Mazda 6 with DPF. The light has flashed 4 times in past 7 months with forced regen done twice.
It has occurred again. I have tried fuel additives, used Shell V-Power fuel etc but looks like no use.
This is my first car and I drive to work 17 miles each way which has a motorway run of approximately 15 mins.
I understand that for regen to take place I need to drive at high rpm, so once a week, I drive in 4th gear at speed 50 mph that brings the revs to 2000+
Now, this may sound stupid but I have a very basic question: How many revs should the car reach before I change the gear? Do I need to accelerate real hard in first gear and then put the car in 2nd gear?
I may sell this car and buy something else but I need to know if my driving style is correct or not.
I hope somebody will help me.
Really appreciate it.
Many thanks.
Best Regards
Chintan

I think you're confidence is misplaced, there's been no MX5 fitted with a diesel. This is my first post in the forum and I am confident that the above topic has been discussed more than often
This isn't a Mazda subforum, it's an MX5/Miata/Roadster forum (bugs me it says Eunos on the title, that's the marque, not the model).
I don't know what the rev limit on your 6 is but my Merc C220 CDI will happily go over 4k and pulls like a train when doing it. The 6 also has a modern turbo engine so I see no reason why it wouldn't be happy doing the same thing. Maybe you should take a look in the manual
As has been said above though, this is not really the right forum. You should try one of the more general forums, there will be people out there who can give you the right advice.

Hello All,
Thanks for the replies and sorry for posting the question in different forums. And thanks moving the thread into correct place.
@Superhoop : Thanks for the link. I saw your replies and it is just as you say.
I gave my car to Mazda dealer just for diagnostics and they told me that EGR Valve is blocked or something like that and it needs to be replaced. I was told it would cost £800 + vat!
So I asked them do just do force regen and now the lights have gone.
I will now ask a local garage to clean EGR.
But it would be great if you could please give me some more help. How do I maintain the car or as they say, how do I change my driving style.
I had spoken to main technical guy in Mazda and he said that if I am going from speed limit of 30 mph to a motorway 70 mph, I need to change the gears at 3000 rpm and not at 2000 rpm. So from being in 3rd gear, take the revs to 3000 then put it in 4th and so on.
Also, at times, I just drive in 4th gear at speed of 50 mph for 5 mins due to road works and then change to 70 mph after the speed limit changes.
Any tips will be really helpful.
Thanks again.
Best Regards
Chintan

Might be worth speaking to these guys , they could remove the dpf and clean the egr valve if needed
