My daughter is a childminder and due to a house move needs an eight seater vehicle. European models tend to be based on Transits, Vivaros and the like. In my search I've found that Japanese imports of a similar price seem to be slightly older but far lower mileage and way better equipped.

My worries would be servicing and insurance - am I being too cautious or are these valid concerns? My Aygo went in for service yesterday and I asked the dealer about servicing. Their take was that routine servicing was no problem but there could be delays in obtaining parts. She can't really afford to be without a vehicle for long so if true this could be a negative factor.

This is the type of thing I'm looking at:

an old egg-shaped Estima with 4wd and 200k miles on the clock. yours for £500, will out last the earth, cost nothing to insure and never need an oil change. It's very safe, is very comfy, and it doesnt matter if the snotty kids make a mess of it really... just buy another one every year.

you're welcome.
