AW11 hissing sound

Greetings, My MR2 hisses when pushing the loud pedal while the engine is under stress. This noise was present both before and an after an engine swap. I'm thinking possible vaccuum leak but have no problems idling, which is between 500 and 1k when hot. This car is a NA 1600 version, uk spec with a japanese engine fitted from API.

any ideas?

Also my car isoverdue for its 1000 mile checkup after the fitting by about 400 miles. Do you guys think I will have any probs before i get to the mechanic (aside from my API guaruntee is now stuffed)

Is it N/A version?
If turbo will it hold boost?

Mechanic tracked it down to the silencer. No leaks so assuming a loose baffle.

I now have a loud ticking sound, sounds like the injection system only I can hear it in the cab, seems to go quieter when warm and not affecting power. I think i'll live with it till I can get it serviced.
