About to turn 25 this year and im after a toyota supra as a next car.

Current own a stage 3 focus st (320bhp) and want something rwd and eventful.

The supra has been a childhood dream of mine and would like to fill it before commitments happen.

Will be a daily, budget around 8-10k. Prefer a facelift jap import, manual.

Ive joined the owners club and read up about them but just wondered what peoples thoughts of them on here?

UK Spec has more power and better stoppers.

I had an RZ manual years back, BPU to 380bhp.

Pros: Easily tunable lots of straight line speed looks fantastic.

Cons: Its a big heavy GT car and I do a lot B-road driving so wasn't as much fun for back lane shanagans. I also felt the steering felt a little disconnected almost as if the power steering was compensating too much.

Other than that I had great fun owning it smile

Was going to do the bpu then leave it at that. The weight aspect did concern me. Was considering a blobeye impreza too for similar price.

Most standard JDM cars that have been dyno'd have been found to make the same power as the UK spec cars. JDM cars were said to have lower power than the UK counterparts purely to meet the 'gentleman's agreement' in place between Japanese manufacturers at the time.

Bigger brakes were an option on the JDM cars, so it's just a case of finding an import that had that option ticked.

Thanks for replies. Never knew about the brakes option i will look into this.

Whats the difference between the facelift and non facelift?

Mpg shouldnt be really a problem but at the moment i get around 20-22mpg, will it be about the same with town driving in the week and a hoon at the weekend?

I have a mkIV, although it is a n/a SZR with manual. It has:
- ABS+LSD
- Supra Turbo suspension (Bilstein) and 17" alloy wheels (235 front/255 rear)
- It is Coupe and weights 1430 kilos.

So, how it does drive? Brilliantly! It's a very stable in high speed AND high speed corners, it has a very good turn in and it's quite agile car too. And it is very easy to adjust turning with throttle. It drives quite the same than GT86, although GT86 is little bit more tight and agile. Of course it is, cos it is brand new car and Supra is and old hero... It really doesn't feel heavy at all.

Suspension have to be in a good shape, otherwise it handles like crap and feels heavy and sluggish. I don't know how good are some of those cheaper aftermarket suspension parts, but i would avoid them.

Its a beautiful machine with lot of character. Your budged is little tight i think. blabla

If you have a something to ask, just ask. I try to answer smile
