Gulp - suspension build progress
Discussion
Done.
Build competed.
Good news. I now have a front end I have some confidence in again. A lot pointer, and much less bump steer and tramlining. She now handles properly.
An in depth investigation will have to wait until I get some time and clear roads that aren't dark and wet.
Bad news;
Car needs a 4 wheel alignment ASAP. I'll try and get this done next week.
Knackered an ABS sensor. Yet more bloody expense. I'll try and get this done next week.
Managed to flatten the battery. Which has caused the hi-fi to drop into the "please transmit code from the little security tab thing" mode. Guess what I can't bloody find.
Yet. More. Expense.
Which brings me to my final point. Is it a mod if you didn't know you had it.
The springs that came off the rear were progressivly wound Eibachs by the look of them. I had no idea. Neither, I suspect, did the guy who sold it to me.

As far as I know, and I've heard stories to back it up, the insurance gits will invalidate the claim for undeclared mods, whether or not you knew about them.

Yes. Fun, isn't it.
Just had mine done - got if back late Friday. I'm well chuffed - rear shocks were completely dead which explains the lack of absorbing of shock! Tramlining has reduced significantly.
Looking forwards to dry weather at some point to see how it goes round bends.
You got any plans for tracking your toy?

Iant, you go for the Tein Flex in the end?
Yup. It looks the dogs and has some cool* stickers with it Will report back on how it copes when I get chance to give it some stick. Already noticed that I don't catch the nose on a few points where it used to catch (even crawling forward) and speed bumps can be tackled at ~20mph without fear of remodelling the nose.
The build quality is absolutely excellent - very solid and all coated so it shouldn't rust.

Hell yes.
Excellent
Can't really do it with mine until I sort out the rad - got very hot in the 20 mins on track at Trax so souldn't really cope with a full day. Got a nice v-mount intercooler/rad combo in the pipeline - should happen in the new year. Then fitting of uprated fuel pump, pressure regulator, 1200cc secondary injectors and a remap... Maybe 300 ponies at the wheels from that...
The list is endless when you start modding these things.
Got a mate with a 4 like yours - he's just got hold of a spare engine via Fensport (apparently some trick thing from one of the original rally teams) and some forged pistons, blingy cam thing and about 3k's worth of other internals... Should be even more awesome when done!
If only we'd gone for a cheap hobby!

I want that engine in my car.
