Any Hilux Owners
Discussion
Going from a BMW M135i to a Toyota Hilux might not seem like the most natural of changes but I'm very sporadic with cars and really fancy trying something rugged next!
I saw a Hilux up close the other day and it looks massive compared to the trucks from Ford and Nissan etc. Just wondered if anyone has one and could share their experience?
I probably won't change for another year yet but when I do, it'll be the 3.0 Invincible (auto, leather and sat nav). The only other option I'd like is the canopy.
Can't decide if I want to lease or not!

Just had a look on UK websites and it looks like you have the same models we do, dimension as follows:
Hilux: 5260mm L x 1835mm W x 1860mm H, kerb weight ~1900kg
Navara: 5296mm L x 1848mm W x 1795mm H, kerb weight ~2000kg
Ranger: 5359mm L x 1850mm W x 1845mm H, kerb weight ~2100kg
So the Nissan is a bit lower in the roofline, but in every other external dimension the Hilux is smallest. The Ranger is closer to the others in size than I thought, they look much bigger on the road. Looks can be deceiving!
I think you're right about an upcoming Hilux facelift, depending on priorities you might want to wait for it, or grab a good deal on the current model when they're trying to get rid of them.
They're much more car-like to drive than utes used to be, but you're always still aware of what they are. To be honest unless you want/need the offroad capacity and separate load space then there are better options than a ute for most people.

Thanks for the info Ben - I was convinced the Hilux was bigger - I think the added height (which really appeals to me) must have swayed me!
I reckon that when the time comes I'll need to have a good look at all of the options. I actually quite like the look of the Isuzu D-Max but the lease deals seem quite expensive. Won't be changing cars for another year or so I reckon but I like to start early! lol
