Hi there.
OK, I've only had my GTR a short time (and, to be honest, it's plenty fast enough) but I've been reading around a bit and have got hooked on the idea of performance upgrades!
Not that I'll be doing this imminently (I think!) but, say my budget was £5,000, what would be the best bhp bang-for-buck on a standard GTR?
Cheers,
Jim

Job done
Having said that, after watching this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsudmRyxLjc I'd be tempted to go for the suspension upgrade in the first instance.

Have a look at GTROC Forum for everything you ever want to know.
£5k is loads, you can get Litchfield Stage 5/6 for that (Think 700+ bhp)
You should at the very least get the Y pipe changed (£600) and way better sound, simple Cobb or Ecutek re-map at about £600 again will get you 70 hp more and you will absolutely notice it.
Upgrades to Launch control and gearbox software well worth it, suspension much pricier to modify.

£5k will comfortably get you a stage 4 from stock which is about 620-630 bhp. After that you will require bigger turbos which will take you to 700bhp but will cost you £10k from stock.
750 bhp will cost you around £15k.
Stage 2 is exhaust, air filters and remap around 600bhp and is enough for most and at around £2.5k.
Mine is a stage 1 and feels perfect for road use. Just enough to break traction which really brings the car to life. Any more and in other than perfect conditions traction issues would probably hinder your progress.
The good thing is you can go up in stages without it costing you more money as you can just add the extra bits each time you fancy a bit more ooomph.
Happy modding.

Is a remap essential if you change the Y-pipe?
Just bought one myself last weekend
Not at all Vlad, the Y pipe runs perfectly happily on the stock map and just makes the car sound much better, no extra power though.Just bought one myself last weekend
A Cobb or Ecutek re-map will add at least 50bhp though and its a no-brainer
Get over to the GTR.co.uk forum bud!
For £5k, I'd sugguest atleast a Stage 2 setup with Ecutek (rolling boost, pops and bangs map if you want) and have heard nothing but good things about the Litchfield suspension system which is meant to be WAY better than the OEM one that you have now.
If you wanted to do things cheap and second hand, Stage 4 can be done for £2k

Hi Peter, did you run Y-Pipe without a map?A Cobb or Ecutek re-map will add at least 50bhp though and its a no-brainer
I can't find much information on people that have done it without mapping you see. Seems like mixed reviews on GTR forums.

The Ecutek re-map was a 5 minute mod and costs around £600, others are as good, Cobb etc..
This gives on a 2010 MY or earlier car around 550hp and is well worth it.

If you are going to use it on the road you will get a way with it but if its for the track the transmission will likely overheat and fail. Also the brakes will suffer badly. Brakes get a pasting on track certainly but they don't get destroyed by it, just wear very quickly.
GTRs are not really track tools, they are fast road cars.
I've owned my GTR for 4.5 years. For me, upgrades are not about absolute power but more to do with refinement and drivability. With an engine and gearbox remap you get power and smoothness.
I would say if you are going to spend money then focus on brakes and maybe suspension first. These are much more usable in real day-to-day use.
