For all you turbo nutters out there. When I pick up my MRT Im obviously goig to want to keep it in good health.

I am fully aware that you shouldnt switch the engine off straight after a run - however how do you know how long to run it for?

If tootling through down, totally off boost, is 15 - 30s ok?

On a more spirited drive, is it ok to just drive the last few miles off boost and then 30s?

For a total mad cross country dash, how long should i run it, 5, 10 mins?

Are there any hard and fast rules?

Any other precautions that i should take?

Turbo timer....

Gentle for the last few mins and then let her idle for 30 seconds. If you've been thrashing the nuts off it, 3 minutes or more.

I rely on the TT and common sense.

do you have any pics if your new steed MrFibbles??

hope it serves you well (especially on abandoned snowy roads that we're due soon )

any planned upgrades?
I suggest TE37's as a starting point!!

Definately go for the TE37's.. and Rev3 rear light clusters..

In the pic of dash/stereo,looks like a UK single din in a double din bracket/space.That saves agro-& more space for fitting gauges/contol devices

Nice car mate. Top of my list for when I actually have enough money to get rid of the SEAT. One think that does look ace in my view is to have the rear windows blacked out. Don't know why but it makes them look loads better. That and a Bomex front/rear bumper

Don't thrash it cold, regular oil changes, use optimax and take it easy on wet roundabouts ;-)

Don't boot it until the temp gauge is up to the mid-way (normal) point.

Agree with MrRE about cooldown times.

I wouldn't boot it then either. The temp gauge is water temp, not oil temp. Oil temp is often a bit slower to warm up. Temp gauge at normal, plus a couple of miles.
