There never was a production Impreza with 6 cylinders. A few people have fitted the 6pot from the Subaru SVX into a WRX, and the H6 from the last Legacy would fit with relative ease though.

I have seen an impreza with a SVX engine, with 22b pistons, twin turbos and apparently pushing 700 bhp.

yeah.. would say they're probably confusing it with that legacy that was in Evo this/last month.. nice flat six in it.. and looks a bit like a scoob without all the flares/vents/bulges etc.

No this was an impreza. I saw it in the workshop being built.

I though some of the US spec imprezas were 6 pot?

Yep, US used to have a NA 6 pot in their Impreza. But now they have 2.5L turbo in their STI.
Pat's car will be an absolute beast...but he's not talking it up at the moment, seems to just be working on others cars.

It was an oldish Silver impreza. The front 'scuttle' was being removed when I saw it.

Are you sure? I lived in the US for a year and owned an NA Impreza. I've never heard of a factory 6 pot Impreza, esp. in the US where they've only recently had a turbo'd one.

Pretty sure no Imp ever had a 6 pot as standard.

2.5 litre block in the US as discussed. Good engine.

What about the type 25 Impreza that Litchfield are building, is that a 6 pot motor?

Nope. That's the Yank spec 2.5 litre lump.

And bloody quick it is too.

The one in EVO this month is gorgeous. Shows how well put together it is, given that it's not actually a factory model and it's being featured in ECOTY

hmm.. that type 25 in Evo is nice.

there's a pic of it in the bottom-left of one of the pages.. side-on (almost) tracking shot.. looks so good, its the only time I;ve ever thought "hmm.. I really wouldn't mind one of those!!"

by the sounds of it, it's stonkingly fast too!

that engine ought to go well in an FD, and make a great noise too!!

FD? What, an RX-7? Heard of people putting V8's in them, but really, what's the point?
