This car has just came into my mind as a possible replacement for our MINI Cooper S, i understand they will be more expensive to run, but what else can people tell me about them?

Owned a Mk 1 aero for just over a year. Good car, like any turbo car it likes a drink if you have a heavy right foot. I used mine daily on a mix of motorway and A roads and had an average of 32mpg.

There are a few well known faults such as the VVTI and turbo seals etc. so it'd be worth checking in over at mpsowners.com and asking on there. Handling wise it isn't the best (comparing this to a fiesta st) and can feel quite heavy around bends.

Comfortable for enough for what it is and is well equipped (bose stereo is superb). Few mods and it can see 300bhp.

All in all its a lot of car for the money!

I'm not really into the performance enhancement thing, my MINI Cooper S is quick enough, and i'm sure an MPS would be considerably quicker than that (in a straight line at least)!

They've a good level if kit as standard, the heated seats and glass are very welcome this time if year.
Driver and front seat passenger comfort is good but the rear is a bit if a Jarry ride.
Nice tractable engine in standard trim and the gear change is nice and slick. Which makes for good comfortable around town and long cruise driving.
Good sound system with all the blue tooth and voice activation gizmos for phone and music player compatablity,
No spare wheel just a repair kit.
I've thrashed mine around several circuits and not been embarrassed by the performance.

Another owner here i am actually the west mids regional rep on http://www.mpsowners.co.uk and mine is nearly fully bolted.Just the downpipe that is sat in the living room to go on .

I have a mk2 and its running ,well should be atleast 320bhp now im on my final map revision.

In stock form not much touches you , i can confirm that a focus rs only pulls 2-3 lengths and you can destroy a 53 cupra r.

They are not as big inside leg room wise as you would think however its so comfy ,quiet (even with my decat exhaust) and just so relentless in the pursuit of speed .

People dont know what they are and when they do they think its only fast in a straight line and forget about the mechanical LSD that offers so much REAL feel and just pulls you into the corners at daft speeds.

for my 10K budget i wanted power and luxury and ideally low miles/new car .Cant be beaten for the price also tax is 270£.

Get yourself over on the forum the knowledge base is huge.

Welcome to the world of MPS ownership!

Where are you based? CJ Performance in Mansfield is one of the main go to places for the MPS in the UK. https://cjperformance.co.uk/

The main hub of MPS knowledge is actually on Facebook now, so if you can find Mazda MPS OC that is where we all "hang out".

Justin Heath is the only trusted tuner of our cars. All of the others are in the US so remote tuning via COBB Accessport and Versatuner are the main avenues of tuning in the UK. Justin only really takes on aftermarket turbo tuning and is actually going to be tuning mine as soon as my downpipe gets in from the US! You find him on Facebook as well.
