I'm new to the forum so I'd just like to say hello and thanks in advance for any advice.

I recently purchased a 2001 Celica VVTi-190 only to find that the rear drivers side wheel has a faulty bearing or hub.

I had it diagnosed at a garage and they seem to think I have to replace the whole hub at a cost of £170 as with this type of car it's not possible to replace the faulty bearing. I just wanted to know if this is the case and a rear wheel bearing cannot be replaced on a 2001 Celica.

If the only option is to replace the whole hub, does anybody know a parts supplier or breakers yard that might have a rear wheel hub for my car and if I managed to find one, could I, a novice with very little knowledge of cars, replace it myself?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers, Matt.

New rear hub bearings coat around £80/90 for the pair. With labour I'd say £150 to have it done ok.
