There's some great deals being given on current shape MX-5's at present - high spec cars are being discounted handsomely. Clearly there is a new model just around the corner, but nobody seems to know much about the new 5 (the dealers wont give anything away) or even when it will be on stream.

Do PH'ers have any news (or better still links to other sites) about the new car?
Should I trade my 2000 1.8iS for a fully kitted out current car - or sit tight for a few months to get the first of the new?

Visited our main Mazda dealer today and was told that a replacement for the current MX5 is due towards the end of next year - no details but I'm sure current prices will drop on both new and of course (hopefully) s/h models.

There are spy shots of the new version floating around. Possibly an RX8 stylyle front end...but in essance easy recognised as an MX5.

I think engines were said to be 1.8 2.0 and a 2.3 which will not be available in the uk....typical.

Buy a MK1 with pop-up lamps

Nah, if you're after a MK2/2.5, then I'd wait until the new one has a release date - then the discounts should really start to happen.
