So, bit of background first...

I moved out from the UK to work in Geneva in June, came out with my little Fiat Barchetta which was wonderful fun in the summer, and it's now getting cold, quickly.

I live have a 25-30mile commute each way, and plan to be spending as much time as possible in the mountains, so, I'm thinking a Rav 4 should get me through.

Been looking for a little while, and tried to do as much research as possible. I'm going to see this tomorrow...

so, can I ask, what are the kinds of things I need to look out for?? from what I gather, the Petrols have less common faults than the Diesel, is that fair?? it's got 93,000miles, is that on the high side for a Rav??

any help or input would be MASSIVELY appreciated.

the advert reads:
"Perfect condition, just out of service, the four probes are to be changed, no foreseeable problems, Double key."

Does anyone know what the 4 probes are likely to be, lambda sensors, I assume??

Thanks!
David

we got rid of ours cos it was doing about 20mpg

Apart from that it was fine, it had a tendency to do thru suspension bushes, but the constant cobbled roads round our way have always caused probs with our cars.

we sold it with 110k miles

I have one for sale at the mo. They are great, i get about 33mpg, but the fuel computer says i am getting 40mpg which is rubbish.

The engines are bulletproof, ive seen some with 180k on the clock.

Condition was the biggest issue, mine is very clean but there are alot of tatty ones due to women drivers thinking they are driving a truck and treating them badly.

Test the 4wd by doing a wheelspin, it should allow a 1/4 rotation of the front wheels then the rear should cut in & send you off down the road.

Everything else should work well.
Look under the rear where the boot secret storage is & check for any rust. Otherwise they are a solid little softroader
