I'm intending to buy a Mitsubishi Evo X but I hear it has needed a new battery at 11k miles and 18months old. How long can you usually leave an Evo X sitting before it wont start?

Most are cherished cars that sit in the garage alot.
I use a battery monitor/charger to ensure its topped up all the time.

Ive had lots of weekend cars, without the battery monitor I often had to replace the batteries every 2 years. Once they drop below 10 volts they are buggered. You can buy proper deep cell natteries or racing compact batteries that will last the standing time

A second thought....

If your worried about the battery, then the evo may not be your perfect car......

....... it will cost you alot more than that !!!!! Once you start to modify it, and you will, it gets a bit more pricey. But my god are they superb. Most owners say the cars left the factory half finnished and the tuners make them exploit their real performance.

What are you buying ?? Manual or SST ? 300? 360 ?

I'm looking at a FQ330 SST. The money isn't a prob, its a car for my wife mostly. I just may need to leave it at the airport for a couple of weeks when I go on holiday for example. The only mods I'm considering are cruise control and maybe a tow bar for my caravan

(Kidding :-) )

I have a Lotus Elise S1 that can't spend more than 4 days undriven without electric death!

should be fine at the airport with a new battery.

But of course you can boost 330 to 380 with a fuel pump, a boost solenoid and a remap. cost you £600 max

I'd love to, but . . . What does that do to the mpg, gearbox and warranty? (its an SST)

I'd honestly be cautious of upgrading an SST too much without looking at clutch upgrades as well. My SST box had to be replaced after 18,000 miles of mainly gentle driving. AYC pumps also fail after the same kind of mileage. Together, that's £11k from a. Mitsubishi dealer! On the plus side, my battery is fine after 22,000miles! Make sure you get a good warranty!
