Hi chaps

I've just picked up and 08 plate Gen7 Accord Tourer. My darling wife is currently refusing to entertain driving it, her feable excuse being, you can't see out the back when reversing!! You can, but there's not telling the wimmin folk. As this could become a problem when we are in my car and I want to partake in a drink, I'm considering fitting a reversing camera.

I spotted the below last night, but I have the feeling that this is just "too cheap" and as such I've entered the wrong parameters into google and this is clearly for the wrong car or something?!

So, answers on a postcard. biggrin

Apparently so. The chap who has a thread running in readers cars (not lordgrover) had one fitted. Maybe give that a read.

The car has a large screen nav system built in. I've seen lots of other gizmo's to connect aux and video into the unit, they are all over £100. Thing like connects2 and xcarlink

Hence I'm not convinced the system linked is all you need. I think you need something like xcarlinklink AND the camera above.

Total control. No luck at all finding the thread. Even google can't!! Any idea what it was titled?

Didn't you buy an EX spec Accord?

My '03 car had factory nav with a reversing camera as standard. I'd have thought an '08 car would've had it fitted too.....

Yep. An 08 plate EX tourer. Factory nav, cruise, electric leather etc

No sign of the camera at all. Is the factory unit in the rear number plate light too?

It's in the recess for the number plate by the opening catch if I remember correctly.

Well I can't see one! And nothing happens when it goes into reverse! That said, the rear parking sensors don't work either!

Was the camera standard on the EX then?

I'm pretty certain it was standard with factory nav.

Right, I`ve just had a trawl on AT for Accord Tourers with nav and none of the descriptions mention a reversing camera. Now obviously this doesn`t mean they don`t have them but I`d have thought that some of the adverts would`ve mentioned it?

If your hand-book makes no mention of it then perhaps it wasn`t standard after all.... I know the nav should be voice activated and have a (non too good if I remember correctly) hands free system.

The nav is voice activated. Not had much call for the hands free yet. It's paired ok but being the weekend the work phone hasn't sprung into life. Not getting my hopes up as pairing was painful!!

Time to rip the dash apart and scope out the inputs I guess!!

Not had much chance to research further. It's been a crazy week. As I'm experiencing the Bluetooth at the moment and realising the mic is woefully incapable of doing its job, I'm considering getting an auto electrician to come and upgrade that, plus fit a reverse camera. Hopefully I can find one whose ripped a nav out before and knows the inputs

I remember the hands free system being poor. The one in the latest Accord isn't much better.
