Heard these are quick as, but lack noise?
Before I try one, what should I expect and look out for?

Try normally leads to buy?!
Is it better than a 40k 911, rs5, tvr or Ferrari?.

Go and try one then you will know.

Plenty of videos and reviews if you put into google.

Value for money they score top points. I've owned mine for 18months and still find excuses to go out and drive it. They are relatively cheap to tune, mines pushing out about 630bhp and a similar torque figure yet it is still a daily driver that can be docile and undemanding to drive. As a practical car yet with Supercar performance there is nothing to touch them.

Pottering around they can feel quite ordinary if you are expecting supercar vibration and noise.

Cross-country, however, I have never, ever, driven a car that can cover the ground so fast and make the driver feel like a Driving God. It is stupendously impressive.

A quick 20 minute test drive does not really do the GTR justice IMO.

And the relatively quiet noise is easily fixed with a sports exhaust. Try the GTR owners club forum for advice. The GTR community is tremendously supportive and with some decent people.

And if you buy one, do not look at the Litchfield or Severn Valley Motorsport websites because you will lose your self control. Before you know it, you've booked the car in for a stage 4 upgrade , swapped the runflat tires for Michelins Pilots and fitted a sports exhaust. It happens... wink

Mine is standard and sounds fairly quiet revving at stand still, but loads of people have commented on how loud it is when I floor it past them in third gear. First gear only lasts about one second and sounds loud enough to wake the dead, it just goes WOPPP, kind of a hollow warble but very loud.

I've thought about a Y pipe but I do like to hear the whistles and whines from inside the cockpit, the whine is great at around 6k rpm, don't know if a Y pipe would drown that out.

Nice turboman!

Ned, do you find it makes the back end sooty at all, as it's supposed to run a bit rich without a remap. And does it drown out the nice cockpit whines?

I think I'll get one, try it then probably take it off lol. What make have you got?

No soot whatsoever. Dont think anyone gets a remap with a y pipe or even an exhaust change, they run a bit rich as it is. I got a japspeed one as they are only £250 as £450 for some of the others seems a bit much for a piece of pipe.
The only slight issue with mine is that when fitted it has twisted the rear section ever so slightly so the rear tail pipes dont sit quite central now which has pissed me off a bit.
I have spoken to other owners though who say theirs fit perfectly so maybe i was just unlucky.

Taking mine to litchfields on wednesday for a service, stage 1 and gearbox software update. Though i cant stop thinking about going for stage 2!

Yeah I saw the Japspeed one on ebay, it's listed at around £2500! but invites you to make an offer. I offered them 250 quid and they refused, so I offered 280 and they said they'd sold out for the near future frown

Have just spotted a Milltek on ebay for 430 quid, will probs go for that. I'd like a Litchfield stage 1 too, but the car's only a year old and I'd worry about warranty claims being refused.

Glad to hear there's no soot, I've heard stories over on the GT-R forum that it can be a problem, and excessive smoking when flooring it, someone said.
