Are these engines good for 100k+? If looked after correctly.,Uk model I am looking at. I had the mk1 but less mileage and also anything else to look out for.

Cheers

My 1.8 mk2 is just about to clock up 168k, keep 'em serviced regularly and they keep I'm going. Plenty of threads about what to look out for (try the MX5 forum), but your main enemy is going to be rusty sills.

Buy on condition not mileage.

Think mine was on 118k when it went pop. Autopsy revealed a problem with the dodgy cheap oil pump which a previous owner fitted caused massive wear of the small end bearings.

That was helped on its way by me taking it on a "car limits day". The surface was so rough that my wing mirror cracked.

If a Mazda pump had been used the mechanic said it'd have been good for another 100k.
