Hi Guys,

A friend is in the market for a GTR for around 35k

I know about the bell housing.

Is there anything else that is a must have?

Thanks in advance.

Bell housing a fact of life; might go, might not, and not reflective of hard use. Not pricey to fix at a quality indy like Litchfield.

More significant at purchase should be tyre and brake condition; both pricey to replace.

Some maintenance is time, mileage OR use dependent e.g transmission fluid changes req'd if the car has run high temps ( track or hard road use. ) Car records all this.

Some warranty claims on damp headlights, faulty instrument binnacles and faulty stereos/ amps, all of which are MEGA pricey to fix if Nissan doesn't pay.

Rampant modding so make sure it has been done properly, or if being sold as stock, have the mods been removed for sale, which is also common?

Greats, tough car but obviously eyes open smile

Pretty much as Zed Ed has commented, the bell housings can be sorted by Litchfields for £700. My display system started playing up but was replaced under warranty, there is a 5 year warranty on these. Check the front discs in particular, the OEM drilled ones crack if the car has had any fast road or track use, AP replacements are about £600. Tyres will probably be original run flats on the car, check the rears in particular as they wear out the quickest, often on the inside edge, most people in the know are replacing with Michelin Pilot Super Sports which can be bought for £1100 for a set, much cheaper than the Nissan Dunlops from NHPC.

I've bought myself a brand new GTR. Mid-life crisis treat! I take delivery next week.

Ever since ordering it two weeks ago I've been trying to join GTROC.co.uk but I still can't post.

Seems they aren't activating new members.

Very frustrating. I actually wanted to ask some questions before buying but just can't get active.

If there's any active GTROC members on here I'd be greatful for an update. I'm itching to get live.

Cheers

Wilwak.

PS. Anyone know why there isn't a dedicated Nissan or GTR section on Pistonheads? Just about ever other brand and car has one. :-(

Wilwak what's your username on GTROC? They're having issues with new members but I can send one of the Mods your username and they'll activate your account for you smile

No scoobys allowed in the Subaru section?

Difficult for the TVR boys really. That's how PH started after all.

Same problem for me - I've tried but without luck. User name Airbag. Emailed many times but not a whisper. Does the site not want any new members?

Absolute rubbish.
New sub fora are created as and when the need requires. If there is sufficient conversation to warrant a new sub forum, request it via website feedback and the request will be reviewed.

They always want new members but I think the site is just having issues, I've sent a mod a PM with your username so hopefully your account will work today smile

Yes, seems odd.

There's loads of very fast Japanese sports cars and they don't seem to be very well represented on Pistonheads.

I came along hoping to have a discussion with a few existing GTR owners before buying mine but couldn't find any on here. I'm sure they must exist.

Would be nice to get a Nissan or GTR section live. I'd happily talk about 370Z's too!

Done 10k miles in mine, hasn't missed a beat, great car.

The NHPC at Bristol seems pretty good. Had the bellhousing replaced, and this week they replaced the wiper mechanism and motor because it made a very slight clonk.
