So, slightly inspired by Dan Trent's alternative to a Golf story here http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI... I have recently bought a Mazda CX-7. And it is quick, roomy enough for kids + dogs and drives pretty well.

What I'd like to find though is a product/company/service that will give it a quick tune (engine remap) to gain 10-20% power/torque.

Trouble is I'm struggling to find something that's simple. There seems to lots of options in the US, but I'm in the UK and struggling to find a plug-and-play ECU remap. Should be easy shouldn't it?

Anyone with any experience/recommendations?

If that's the 2.3L that you have gone for, have a look at the tuning options that are available for the 3 and 6 mps...

Hi there. The 2.3 is the same motor as is in the 3MPS and 6MPS so Neil at BBR-GTi (http://www.bbrgti.com) be a very good place to start as I know he's done quite a few 3s and 6s to very good effect.

Naturally though, if you're going for a remap then you're best to make sure you've done any simple breathing mods (ie uprated panel filter or even an CAI) before the remap or you'll just have to go back and get it done again, but you're on Piston Heads so I'm sure you know that! smile

I have no affiliation with BBR and I'm not even a customer, but my boss is very please with what they've done for him (both his 6MPS and his wife's Juke dci...)

Hope that helps,

Alan

Thanks. I've had a look at the BBR GTI site. That's just what I'm after. Will call them next week.

PS here comes a 290ps CX-7

Let us know how you get on. I've been thinking about this too. Would be interested to know how the standard clutch stands up to the increased power and torque.

So...OP did you get that remap?

I've just bought a 2.3T CX-7 and have been thinking about remaps.

Any clutch problems if you did go for it?

Hi there, Sorry, but I didn't go for it in the end. I was waiting for the 1-year warranty to run out, but then found this and just upgraded the whole car.

Bizarrely enough I just went the other way.
Traded in a MY00 Impreza Turbo for a petrol CX7.
My other car in a 997 so it didn't hurt that much.
Great barge and surprisingly fast in a straight line.
Has anyone had any success with an LPG conversion - mixed info online if it is even possible?

I've been quoted around £1,600 to get an LPG conversion - swithering just now.

I am wondering if LPG will make any odds to a remap as well biggrin
