Need some advice regarding remapping a 2010 nissan navara v6, have spoken to 2 different companies and have conflicting reports, one said that the ecu is locked and would have to be sent away to be unlocked before they could replace the chip, and the other said that it wasn't locked and they would just re flash the chip.
There was also a bit of difference price wise, anyone any experience regarding this.

I have a 2012 V6 and having failed dismally with a tuning box I used these people. Used their local agency in Sussex and it has worked really well in the year I have had it. Plenty of grunt, no smoke and good economy, if you don't use a lead right foot. Tried their EGR blocking which didn't work but they refunded me the cost after a couple of failed attempts. Overall I'm happy with this.

I forgot to mention that the ECU was remapped in situ while I waited although it took a couple of hours. Certainly no need to remove and send it away. It may be different on a 2010 though.

Just had the navara re-mapped, initially tired through the OBD port but came up with an error of some sort, so they removed the ecu and flashed it across, what a pain the ecu is to get to.
One thing we noticed was the DPF was sort of wrong, it still looksmlikemits fitted, ( shape wise), but there's no sensors or wiring anywhere around it, the spigots are there to take the sensors but they are plugged.
Also, my mate tells me that he's never seen the DPF light on the dash when he turns the ignition on, could it be that for some reason it wasn't fitted to this particular car, or has someone had it deleted from the system.

Haven't looked at the DPF, might investigate later. I wanted to block off the EGR but keeps throwing an engine management light/code and so far haven't found a remap that works to eliminate that successfully. So EGR still fully operational.
