Honda CR-X del Sol - What to look for?
Discussion
I've always liked these little cars, and they still really appeal... But I know nothing about them.
Any experts out there? I'd like to know...
1. Which is the 'best' model? I see there is an ES, VTI, del Sol... I also see there is an electric roof and manual roof version...
2. What are they actually like to drive?
3. What are the costs of running one?
4. What are the areas to look for, rust etc?
Thanks!

Not sure of which model is best, but you must go for the electric roof, it's fking amazingly cool in motion.

The best model is the SIR import - B16 DOHC VTEC. These may have an LSD. Generally with the Electric roof.
I owned a UK spec VTi with a manual roof for 2/3 years which was a lot of fun.
They are light, pokey and handle reasonably well for a little 2 seater convertible.
The 1.6 VTi was economical around town would drink a little more when on a spirited drive but nothing too scary. They are only 1600cc after all.
Parts are cheap and can be easily had, they share the same platform as the 92-95 Civic and later engines from Civic/ Integra can also be installed along with other parts (brake/seats/hubs and so on)
They will rust everywhere, check rear arches and sills in particular but look over everything you would as with any car.
The electric roof is cool, but I would rather not have one incase of failure. The manual one takes 20 seconds to remove and stick in the boot which is then stored in a liftable rack. Its a lot lighter and has double the boot space.
Also the rear window goes down. This is the best thing ever and I miss it in each car I have owned since.
