Hey guys,

My bro picked up an 04 plate RX8 with 50k miles on it the other night. Car looked OK apart from a bit of bubbling at the bottom of the rear wheel arches (down by the sills). After a bit of reading it appars that this is very common to the point Mazda released a service notice on it.

I have read their dealership guid and know what they do to sort it. My question is whats behide that bit of body work and can it get any deeper? IE is there anything stopping it from spreading along the door trim or along the chassis?

He is coming over tonight and I am going to have a good look under the carpets etc, just thought I would ask where else I can check.

Then its a case of getting the old wire brush out and attacking that rust.....good thing I got lots of practice in with my Tuscans chassis smile

Mazda do seem to be picking up a reputation for rusting too quickly.

Are they really as bad as the old Lancias back in the 70s though frown.

I have a 56 plate with minor bubbles on wheel arch lips, just rubbed them down and treated them myself. Sills should of been addressed by dealers where the doors meet, but stonechips and poor car washing seem to of not helped a few cars...
