For general information on RX-7's I would recommend joining www.fduk.org or www.mazdarotaryclub.com where you'll find out the information you may be after about RX-7's. E-SVA affects cars if they're tested as anything but standard - although we have complete kits to change RX-7's back to std. for the test incl. suspension, bodywork, wheels, etc. So we're not too affected by this.
The RX-7 is a true driver's car. Once you completely understand a rotary, it makes a lot of sense. Vibration is much less than a conventional Piston engine. It's also a much lighter power plant, which makes a lot of sense again. Why carry a heavy weight at the front of the car if you don't have to? The RX-7 was engineered to be very light - even as far as making the jack from aluminium. Suspension arms are made from aluminium and it's a double wishbone design on each corner. Weight distribution is almost perfect. Having no valves, pistons, etc. they're also much more easily tuned to get more power - although it's important to know what you're doing when tuning these.
Contrary to general (un-informed) belief, the engines don't expire at low mileage - if well looked after. A standard tune engine should see 70,000 miles - some of the examples we have supplied are nearing 80,000 miles and still going well. Rebuilds are also easy and not as costly as people perceive. My own car is driven hard each time it goes out - often on racetracks, but comes back for more each time.
After trying every Japanese sports car out here, the RX-7 has stood above the rest as the sports car offering the most entertainment, best handling and most rewards for capable driving. The Japanese have plenty of very experienced specialists - the UK has a handful only. In order to understand these deeply, I have tuned my own to my own requirements, so I feel I know these cars extremely well and can therefore hand-pick the very best examples available for each of our customers. Our reputation is build on this.
You may have noticed at Rotorstock that the cars with "Motormall" plates were the nicest looking examples with no rippled panels, etc. This is because we will only personally select a car we are completely happy with. Unlike other suppliers, we are based in Japan - so we actually inspect, test drive and check all aspects of cars we sell, before advertising.
A budget of £8,500 - £9,350 OTR maximum is enough budget to source an excellent example of an RX-7 type R or similar of under 45,000 genuine miles with wheels, bodykit, etc. of around 1992/93. A budget of £12,000 OTR maximum is enough budget to source an excellent example of an RX-7 type R or similar of under 45,000 genuine miles of around 1994/95.
1996 models with the 16-bit ECU and other revisions are usually available for close to £13,000 OTR through our system.
We have 2 stunning white RX-7's in stock. One is now in the UK (1997 model) the other is on it's way, arriving at the end of September. I can recommend either example.
There is a fair supply of used modified RX-7's although many have been accident repaired, etc. We only seek out the very good genuine examples which have been improved well. We don't supply cars which have had previous accident history. I don't tend to like cars which have had engine rebuilds, as these will be either high mileage cars which have done over 70,000 miles, or they'll be cars which have been abused. In each case, other components such as brakes, suspension, gearbox, diff, etc. may be worn as a result - therefore we tend to avoid these.
Some RX-7's come with extras in the form of decent alloys, perhaps a few extra bits like a decent rear exhaust section and induction kit. As owner of a late 1995 car myself,
I fully understand you will have a desire for a well kept example. We only source such, ideally with some 17" alloys and minor mods,which enhance these cars well yet leave them drivable reliable and enjoyable. For pre 1995 models, we can source more modified examples, although good ones can take a long time to find, even through searching nationally each day in Japan.
If the 2 units we have are not what you're after - the best way to proceed by far is to place an order with a small deposit (Refundable in the event we don't get you a car - see details attached). This would enable you to have first choice of our stock, as we buy it.
I don't select RX-7's which I find have not been well kept. Even a smoker's car can be enough to cause a car to be rejected by ourselves if it smells, or has small cigarette burns. Poorly maintained examples are rejected as are cars with poor bodywork or suspicious history. I always apply the logic that if I wouldn't buy the car for myself, I won't buy such a car for anyone else. As a result our clients are often delighted and certainly not dissapointed - our reputation for RX-7's continues to grow, etc..
We also recently supplied some other examples from stock, so I would recommend looking through our website's list - at the bottom is a link to recently supplied cars from stock. Take a look and you'll find a few interesting RX-7's of around 1993-99, we have supplied We've supplied more RX-7's, but we don't show cars on our website sourced to order, for reasons of customer privacy.
As I'm passionate myself about them - so I know them inside out, what are good mods, in which order of fitment, engine health, the sort of life the car's had, how well it's been taken care of, what it should be like as standard for each year. I also know what mods are desirable and how much they cost. All this helps me to gauge how good an RX-7 is when I see a nice looking example.
We work with a system of supplying cars at below an agreed budget inclusive of all costs and fees. This only a small proportion of the money our customers spend ends up with us. The vast majority is spent on ensuring customers get the very best car their funds will allow. When the price of a car is lower than expected, we simply reduce the On the Road price accordingly. That way our customers always get the best value possible.

Approx 400 RX-7's are now in UK, as a result of imports. We supply the best examples, as we're not constrained by usual dealer profit margins. We prefer to make much less (£900) and source the best we can. Imports come with Km/h Speedos - though we convert these to work in MPH in addition to recalibrating original mileage to read in MILES. We also de-restrict cars. This forms part of UK conversions carried out on cars we supply before completion. Our cars come fully UK registered, so they're SVA tested (If applicable).

Very true Gaz,Confidence in the person you buy from makes a huge difference to the whole buying experience IMO.Perhaps a list/database of decent dealers/bodyshops/repair-mechs/specialists etc would be a good for all of us-& prolly a list of the cr*p ones too.
If ppl think this a good idea,I'll start compiling-send me tales of your good & bad buying/repairing etc experiences folks.

Why put a bodykit on in the first place? 'Rex's are stunning cars to begin with - they don't need to be molested with bodykits. Having said that, some kits DO look good on them, but they still don't need them to look good.
Out of interest, what kit are you thinking of? Also, which generation of Rx7 are you going for?
A third generation car (FD), possibly a '92 car because of emissions.
I know they look great anyway and wouldn't usually bother with bodykits, but I decided you only live once - Might aswell indulge the curiousity.
The kit I like is the C-West kit, which admittedly can look a bit square from the front (big gap in the bumper for monster intercooler) but this is a useful gap which I intend to utilise!

I know they look great anyway and wouldn't usually bother with bodykits, but I decided you only live once - Might aswell indulge the curiousity.
