Well, sadly the Cerbera went, but I've been able to replace it with something suitable.
Picked up the RX on Saturday and it seems to be alot of fun so far. I've a few plans for it including a full leather re trim but it was purchased as a project car so we'll see what develops!
I've attached some pics as is the law around these parts...

Standard or modded?
When I go through my "got to get rid of the Cerb" phase (usually when it's in the garage having more money spent on it) I think about an RX7.
Single turbo modded 350hp for about £10k, where somebody else has already done all the work. I'm sure it'll be just as reliable as the Cerb

It's lightly modded and is putting out around 320bhp. It's certainly Griffith fast but not as quick as the Cerbie.
A well screwed together single turbo should put out in excess of 400 bhp at the rear wheels. I was tempted by one that was dyno'd at 520 bhp but it was totally stripped out and full roll cage added along with super firm suspension. Fine for the track but next to useless for a long journey...

Not as thirsty as the Cerbera!
Its early days but I reckon I'm getting 18 to 20 miles to a gallon out of it...
These cars really are a performance bargain, every home should one - go one you know you want to

The Apexi ECU is it the PowerFC? with the hand control commander so you can do your own mapping.They're a good bit of kit-have a spare manual for one if your stuck.

That's my understanding of the single turbo RX's. From what I can gather you need it permanently wound round to get the performance and on RX's that seems to lead to a shorter engine life.
You can get plenty of performance out of the twin turbo set up if you spend time and effort getting the set up right...

Hi Nicola,
engine wise not a whole heap - I'll get the breathing sorted out in terms of the exhaust down pipes and cats and then get it on a rolling road and have it set up properly.
I'm planning on sorting the suspension and brakes as well and then retrim the interior in full leather.
May also invest in a respray as it has never been painted and the car is 12 years old and whilst it looks fine it would benefits from a freshen up...

D.C. who are you planning to use for the rolling rd/remapping? There's a lot of interesting stories flying about at Skyline Owners & similar sites, concerning different mappers setup philosyphies,i.e. Abbey Motorsport=as much power as poss,very lean mix,even atexpense of engine life .Norris Designs= go the opposite way-rich mix,& tune safer for engine life.Interpro= 'nuff sed!.Some are just bitchy tw*ts,but there are enough stories to make me think about who I'll trust with my engine.
Just updated the running costs of my twin turbo with mild mods. Check it out in the profile - not sure if owning a cerb would be cheaper or not but, apart from the rebuild, it's mega reliable!
It does make scary reading if you're going to own one on a budget.

The world of rotary tuning is (relative to pistons) young in the UK. I'm not sure that any of the above tuners would be reccomended for setting up an FD.
The main tuners all have various strategies just like their boinging equivalents - WGT that I use map quite conservatively (particularly as that's what I asked for!), others are more aggresive. One thing that's for sure though - a string of blown engines does a lot of damage to a tuners rep even if the whole story isn't told.

Hey Iain I may have seen you about in SE London! A few weeks ago I was followed down Lewisham High St into Catford by an RX-7 just like yours, had a very loud exhaust and looked great - female passenger I think. As I went straight on at Brownhill Rd it turned off onto the South Circular one-way system.
I was in my S2000, top down of course
I've been very temped with RX7's recently too,seems they're back in vogue again.
I like the supra,esp the 3.0ltr TT version,a lot.Still Looks good,Very quick off the mark.loadsa back-end action in almost any gear!Good cockpit layout (for a Jap of that era).Lots of big power modding options.I found the 6 speed gearbox ratios strange.In my personal opinion the handling needs tweaking, tho-loadsa low down grunt,but it just doesnt always seem tied to the road in a confidence inspiring way.
At the end of the day loadsa smiles for your money,tons more charisma than an NSX.
