Tyres for MR2?
Discussion
I need to replace the tyres on my 96 Tbar. It's standard UK spec with 15 inch wheels.
What tyres can people recommend? I've currently got Yokos on the back which give good grip but have only lasted 10,000 miles and want something with a good balance between grip and wear rate.
Also could someone please remind me of the front and rear sizes as I want to phone round for some quotes and don't have the car with me at the moment.
Thanks guys

I like Goodyear eagle F1's-for the performance/price.Tho on a heavy car side walls could be stiffer.IMHO
At 17"x255x40r & 225x40fr mine are just over £110.00 each, fitted&balanced.
at 15" yours should be a bit cheaper, check your oldies for sizes tho.

If you can get them in your size Eagle F1's are definately the way to go.
You might also want to look at Toyo Proxis. (Had a 195/55R15 V fitted today £56.70 for the tyre + vat balance etc £72.50 www.etyres.co.uk)
edit:should mention that size is for my focus!.....but think it's the same as the fronts on the MR2, ... not certain what the rears are)

Michellin Sport jobbies here - The old ones. They've changed the design slightly.
Nice tyres, much better than the Japanese shite I had on before - They're longer lasting and grip as much as you'd want them too, but also allow you to break traction in a relatively controlled (as controlled as can be in an MR2) and progressive way. Good all-rounders.

On a similar topic, does anyone know what size tyres should be on the front and rear of a MR2 Mk2 rev1 with 14" Toyota alloys which are 6" wide on the front and 7" wide at the rear?
Just to add at the moment it's got 195x60x14s on all 4 corners and I'm sure the rears should be wider as the rims are.
cheers
