MR2 owners - How many have you owned?
Discussion
The MR2 seems to be one of those cars, if you buy one & get rid, you seem to end up buying another at some point!
As I bought her in December 2008: I bought this one from Blackpool(UK spec 120bhp) had a couple of issues, Alarm went off when key was used in drivers door (sensor issue) & clutch thrust bearing was noisy (new clutch fitted), Gear selector cables failed (replaced).
Owned it for a year before I decided it wasn't stable enough (very tail happy) & bought a Xsara VTS.
Almost immediately I started to miss having the rear wheel drive, so decided I wanted another, I kept my eye on PH until I found one I liked & once I was at the point where I couldn't hack owning the Xsara anymore!
As I bought her in May 2011: I bought my second MR2 (UK spec N/A)
Not had any problems until Tueday night, pulled out of a Junction (a little enthusiastically) and she wouldn't go into 2nd, pulled over at side of road & managed to get her in Reverse, once she had gone into reverse shwe would then go into other gears but is slow going uphill, biting point is at the very top of the pedal, no engine breaking when clutch is released, so currently she is sat on the driveway waiting to be fixed (i've luckily got an AX GTi too so I am driving that at the moment)
So how many of you have owned more than one? and what made you want another?

Just one, UK N/A Mark 2 Rev 3. Done 172k miles on original engine and gearbox. No plan of selling. They are really responsive to throttle and steering input. Try going into the corner 10% slower than your original estimated entry speed (not by much, like entering a 45 mph corner at 40), go on positive throttle just before you turn in and stay with the positive throttle all the way round. You will find the tail to stick like glue. The only downside is if you have to go to neutral throttle or, even worse, trailing throttle. That's usually with the MR2 start to slide.

Sorry should have explained, it wasn't very sticky as it had the wrong wheels on, they were far too skinny & it just didnt grip. I only descovered this after I sold the car to my partner who then bought some standard wheels & fitted them, I then drove it and regretted selling it.They are really responsive to throttle and steering input. The current one is brilliant, sticks when I want it too and doesn't when I dont want it too

What? You mean the wheels are not staggered? I'm not surprised you find the tail happy. The current one is brilliant, sticks when I want it too and doesn't when I dont want it too
You need front/rear tyre size to have a staggered width of at least 20mm (i.e. 205 front and 225 rears). I run standard staggered of 195 front and 225 rear.
I am on my second now, my first was a green N reg N/A with a sunroof, UK car. Sold it with about 140k and then had to have another one, having owned an MGF and a MX5 inbetween.
Bought my second a few years ago, P reg Silver and black NA, 1 previous owner and has just reached 70k. Lovely car

Two so far.
Both mark 2 GT T bars in red. Standard UK spec unmodified.
rev 1 1990 G reg. Cheapest (only) one I could find at the time.
Kept if for 7 years up to 120,000 miles and it was still going strong.
I then bought a rev 4 (1997 R Reg) IMHO the best looking of all MR2 variants.
Spent ages waiting for the right car to come up and travelled all the way to Liverpool for it. (from Reading).
Still have it now, so I have been driving MR2s for 15 years.
In terms of satisfaction per pound they are hard to beat.

Current one (blue one) is 195/225 but as I say, when I bought the first one (white one) I didnt know anything about MR2'sYou need front/rear tyre size to have a staggered width of at least 20mm (i.e. 205 front and 225 rears). I run standard staggered of 195 front and 225 rear.

Just one so far. Mk2 r4, non turbo.
And everytime I think of selling it, like when I want to take the bike up the forest, or pick up more than one mate etc I usually end up getting in, pushing start and forgetting any such crazy ideas.
Does need work though, again
Love MarkS72', bloody lovely looking thing.
