Well folks, I have been threatening to do it and promised myself I wouldn't start this thread until work began. Well work has begun so let's kick things off. I have always loved the looks of both the R33 and the R34 but particularly the front end of the R34. So why not combine the two and make a Wide arch kit at the same time. Now I am going for subtle instead of an aggressive wide arch. Also the body shop company I am using believes in doing things right, so the wider front wings and rear wings will be custom made out of metal, not fiberglass.

So here's what she looked like when I dropped her off to the body shop!

Start of the rear end strip, remove rear bumper and lights. This is a 16 year old car but not in bad nick for it's age.

The front end stripped ready for the front wings to be converted from R33 GTST to R34 GTR. The old R33 wings will be used combined with the R34 to make the right shape and fitment for the body.

As I am going for subtle, I chose 30mm spacers and this is what the stance should look like bare in mind the arches will be slightly wider than the wheels.

Making up the template for the wide arch at the rear.

Rear diffuser arrived and trial fitted to the car.

Now a picture with the rear bumper trial fitted and the rear wing taking shape.

You know you could have just bought some overfenders, that match the OE outlines wink

No Veilside stuff, everything is fabricated to my own specs out of sheet metal. I wanted a wider look, but how I wanted it to look, not a copy of someone else's work. The front end has an OEM R34 GTR bumper and standard bonnet, so no ridiculous aftermarket Veilside bumper here.

More progress, with the rear bumper trial fitted. The lines need to be molded so they match the rear wings, but that will happen later.

Before someone says it, I have been assured the car will weigh no more or very little extra.

View from the rear to appreciate the new width.

The wings are off the car now and the final shaping is taking place. Not an easy thing to do when the curves are in different directions and trying to match it up with the opposite side.

The boss mucking in!

The back axle being dropped to remove the petrol tank as the petrol cap is being relocated.

Petrol Tank out

Rust removed from rear arches and new wings removed for priming and welding on permanently.

Priming the bare metal wings

Shows how big these wings are going to be.

will be interesting to see the finished article!

got to admire your dedication to getting what you want - most people would have just bought an R34.

has marco finished the FTO roadster yet?

I would love an R34 GTR but beyond my budget at the moment. I also like what is being done to this car, looks fantastic in my eyes. Marco is doing the final prep work before final top coat of paint. I think my project is delaying his.

Went down to the body shop today to have a nosey and see for myself how wide the arches are? I wasn't disappointed they look much bigger in person. The wings have been primered and now on the car. Whilst I was there the panel beater was working on the inner arch.

An amazing amount of work, but as has been said, why? How much is this costing you?

I am curious as to the cost but I love the way you are going with this. Its good to see someone indulging their desire to make a car their own without going all after market bumpers and other off the shelf trash.

I have considered buying and fitting the full WRC kit to mine but am a little afraid of the cost and conserned I may not be happy at the end??

Good luck with it though, i will be watching closely;)

Loving this so far, can't wait to see how it pans out.
Just out of interest what alloys will you be fitting and will the car be staying white?

Not too bothered about the cost, I have a good job and you only live once. Can't compare the standard of work to the Chop shop boys! Been to see their work and met Lepu. Their work was shocking to say the least. The car is going to be HOK white with blue pearl.
