Holy Moly!

Haven't looked at actually purchasing one for a while and am thinking about another daft project so thought i'd browse the classifieds/ebay.

Cannot believe the price of them now. Almost all a grand plus and that's without MOT etc. Bonkers.

Has something happened in the last 4 years and they have all disappeared or something equally strange?

Rarity increasing as many have succumbed to the dreaded rot and others have been stacked by yoofs for whom they became more affordable to purchase and had little or no experience of RWD? Add mid-engine and ditchfinder tyres to the mix...

That'd be great if they have gone up! I've got a mk1 sat on the drive that the mot has just expired on, trying to figure out what to do with it.

Very rare find these days in good condition. Plus not many left thanks to dreaded rust & rot issues.

I remember when my aunt had one new in the 80's when I was a kid, unfortunatley it got stolen by a professional gang after 6 months of her having it. Great little retro cars.

About time. I have always been in it for the long game but honestly had visions of them never really going up in value much.
A bit of a money pit to restore a rough 'un though.

It's a Super Edition with 61000m. Late model, JDM-only with the supercharger engine and some extra niceties. Fairly conservative 145-ish BHP as standard and - if I've got the right end of the stick - there's a simple pulley swap upgrade to get to about 190 (from Fensport).

Not many in the UK. http://www.basirk.com/mr2/se/index.php?option=1

Nah, not at all, it wasn't the best SE and already had parts swapped off of it so was a good shell.

The results are pretty impressive anyways.

I've gone from numerous track prepped mk1's and mk1sc to a vx220 - great move up IMO - no rust issues smile
The VX prices are pretty good too, and you can but an NA for 7-8k low miler and then SC it if you want to fettle
Good that the prices are going up, as i still have my modified show car mk1 wrapped up in the garage, but should sell at some point.

clap 10/10. yes In another place.
I'm still hanging in there. We have a regular monthly meet and I have reinstated the Kent Runs after a gap year in 2010.
I suppose I ought to change my username as my current car is blue! laugh
