Ok guys, been looking at getting a second car, something cheap to buy, big engine, big car, comfortable and auto, looked at the normal stuff like bmw 5 series, audi a4/6 mercs etc etc, not really taken with any of them, so as i currently own a scoob started looking for something a bit off the wall and came across the svx, which as a kid always loved the look of, i know they are few and far between, especially good ones, but can anyone offer advice on the potential pitfalls of ownership if there are any, not bothered about fuel consumption as only work up the road.

Cheers in advance

Looked for a while at buying one as putting engine from one in an impreza and main issues I found was the odd broken gearbox.
However if you bought one and spent a bit of time and money on it to get it 100% you could keep an eye out for a cheap one to keep for spares.
Seen then from £1000 to £4000 depending on condition or owners rosetinted specticles.

They seem to be a car people have kept a long time.
The engine is basically a 2.2 with two extra cylinders so pistons and rods available etc. Slight strange arrangement with camgear as there is a cam belt on the exhaust cams which then hsve cog gears on to drive the inlet cams.

There is an American based forum with a European section, as an ex owner I found the people on the forum very helpful they are great unique cars but not without the odd issue the auto box can play up. Try the forum for more info from owners.
