I WANT A NEW CAR!!!
Discussion
I went for a little spin in my mates MRT last night.
Bollocks, I never really found it bretahtakingly quick, and lacking torque before about 3000RPM, but my car feels positively asthmatic now.
I'm tempted to sell it on and run something small, economical, cheap to insure but fairly nippy until the end of the year and then get myself an MRT/RX7/Supra/Skyline (skyline would probably the best idea seeing as I need the car all year round).
The MR2 is costing me a small fortune in petrol every week. I don't really mind but I feel it might be put to better use if I let it accumilate for a while and get a new, faster car.
Reckon I could live with a 1.4 Fiesta zetec for a while?

With a bit of patience you could find an MR2 Mk1 supercharger for say £3k (someone was trying to sell me a white one not so long ago for £3250, email me for detaisl if you want). A little older than your mk2 (I assume that's what you have since you talk about a "small fortune in petrol"!), and the styling's not to everyone's taste - I like them a lot but that's just me - but what a car.
Maybe a tad slower in a straight line than a Mk2 turbo, but miles more fun, just so much more connected to the driver and the road, much more of a driver's car ... mind you this is a common debate, it's just my opinion, etc etc.
Don't know how long you'd need to run a pig slow effort to pay for that (a diesel would be best, no? ) but your existing mk2 would surely be worth the best part of it? And you should even get about 30-35mpg without too much difficulty.
