Couple of years ago I took the missus mk2 import up the M6 at a silly rate of knots.

The car has been convertyed to UK spec, so de-restricted and the face of the sppedo changed to MPH but keeping the original speedo unit so as not to affect the odometer (Which still shows KM ofcourse).

Anyway, the speedo only shows up to 110mph due to the old limiter so th needle went almost all the way back to 0mph!!! I would estimate it at around 125mph but obviously impossible to know exactly!

Anyway, at that kind of speed, going slightly up hill with two people in the car and the boot stuffed full of weekend bags I suddenly realist that the car is drifting to the left into the middle lane so I turn slightly to the right to straighten up..... and I continue turning..... and a bit more..... now my arms are crossed over at approx 125mph and the car is still going left!!!

At this point the missus looks at me and asks, what speed are we going.... my reply was something along the lines of let me concentrate!

Luckily, gently easiong off the power managed to bring the car back into line before crosswing onto the slow lane. SInce then, I always put some of the luggage into the front and haven't had that kind of problem since.

PS: Also had my jag up to 135 a few times... in contrast I can still hold a conversation and lsten to Jazz FM

112. *£$!ing limiter.

Castle Coombe. 112 on the run to Quarry in a car you've just finished paying for is quick enough.....

...at least on the first couple of laps.

130, which is what it says in the manual. Very stable at that speed, too.

I discovered last week that I can hit the rev limiter in 5th in my MX-5. I wasn't looking at the speedo too much, but it was somewhere between 135 and 140 mph

Limited by the gearing?

Was indeed. Pulling nearly 6k. It was some rather fast approaching traffic that brought a holt to the fun though. It comes upon you rather quickly up in those numbers. Still, only had about 3-400 rpm left, so, close enough!

An integra type R will just about hit 140 before it runs out of puff, as I found out when I had my NSX

110 . . . that makes me the slowest in row here. Did 125 as a passenger in an awesome '74 280S . . . Only 1 ticket ever and not even for speeding. That reckons . . .

169 through the trap at brunters last sunday, had a little left,so maybe see 170.Wouldn't like to try it on a motorway though unbelievable amount of road needed to stop the bugger!A couple of scary moments trying to make the bend after the trap untill they opened the car park to run into.
great fun
