You can polish turd but at the end of the day you'll still have a piece of st.
Answer is no.
Funnily enough, people in the 70s and early 80s considered the Mini to be a turd that should have ended production decades earlier. It was only the clever marketing campaign back in the mid-late eighties that kick started the revival of the model.Answer is no.
My ex-wife had one and it was (reaches for coat) SUPERB. Really good fun to chuck about and surprised a lot of other drivers (that may have been my somewhat aggresive style being unexpected from a micra driver). Yeah it still looks stupid, but that made it even more fun to drive like a hooligan. It really was pretty quick too - 0 - 60 was nearly 10 seconds on paper I think, but it felt much quicker.
I'd have another one tomorrow as a somewhat fun workaday car. Also it got close to 50mpg on a gentle run with the wife driving.

We're not in the 70s and early 80s though.
And your point is?You're saying the Micra SR160 is rubbish because it's not fashionable. The Mini argument is the same. People thought it was rubbish because it was out of fashion.
In reality the Micra SR160 is a great warm 'friendly' supermini where fun is order of the day and out-and-out power isn't. Exactly the same as the original Mini Cooper.

Plus my car is a classic unlike the Micra. Can't compare.
I'd paint mine yellow, fit little remote control arms to the front and drive it into the sea.
I actually drove one of these for a month (well, the days I couldn't prise the Xantia out of the wife's hands) and it always gave us both the impression that we'd imagined sitting in a mini sub would!
Of course, driving it into the sea would also get it off our roads.
Micras, hateful little cars...

Well I also have a classic mini at the moment (albeit a late one) and have owned many, and I find the SR160 to be very similar in spirit to a cooper - practical and useful but with the sort of friendly and accesible performance that means anyone can have some fun in it. The point about people thinking the mini was a joke is very valid - as in this case it was entirely their loss.

Mrs H67 is on her second one. Get past the looks and badge snobbery and you find a little gem. No-one wants them so they are a bargain ~ bought mine at 2 years old with 11K miles for £5K from a dealer.
Spec list is endless : Digital Air Con, Bluetooth 6 Disc CD + Aux Socket with steering wheel controls, Speed sensitive electronic PAS, ESP, ABS with brake assist, Drive computer with speed limit warning, rear parking sensors, sliding rear seat, fogs, 16 inch alloys, 6 airbags, 3 proper rear seat belts, rain sensing wipers, side skirts, rear spoiler, under seat storage, the biggest glove box in the world, electric heated mirrors, etc etc.
110 bhp twin cam 16 valve chain driven engine,a decent chassis and handling, proper Nissan build quality, 48 mpg, cheap to insure.
Slag them off all you like, in fact please do. When I need a 3rd one they`ll be even more of a steal.

Some people in this thread need to give over to absolute pleasure, swim the warm waters of sins of the flesh and actually DRIVE one of these superb little cars.
Yep, totally agree. The K12 is a cracking little car and I'm talking about the 1.0 & 1.2. So, I'd presume the 1.6 would be even better in some ways if defeatimg it's original brief somewhat.
